Cab driver vs. no criminal record

If you want to become a cab driver, you must not have a criminal record for certain crimes or offenses. The full list of paragraphs that are not allowed is listed below:

  • Art. 173-175, Art. 178-180, Art. 189a, Art. 218-221, Art. 296-306 and Art. 308 of the Law of June 6, 1997. – Criminal Code (Journal of Laws 2022, item 1138, 1726 and 1855);

  • Art. 522 and Art. 523 of the Law of February 28, 2003. – Bankruptcy Law (Journal of Laws 2022, item 1520);
  • Art. 54-61, Art. 62 para. 2, Art. 62b para. 2 and Art. 66 of the Law of July 29, 2005. On counteracting drug addiction (Dz. U. of 2020, item 2050, as amended);
  • Art. 399 and Art. 400 of the Law of May 15, 2015. – Restructuring Law (Journal of Laws 2021, item 1588 and 2140, and 2022, item 655);

If you are not sure, you can, when applying for a criminal record certificate, write the following in item 11 on the application:

“Article 6(1)(2) of the Road Transport Law, license to perform domestic passenger cab transport“.

You will receive a certificate considered only in terms of the law in question and a clear answer as to whether you can apply to become a cab driver.
